Cardiology Dr Jacowitz uses echocardiograms and other diagnostic testing to detect and monitor heart disease. |
Echocardiograms are types of ultrasound test that use high-pitched sound waves to create a moving picture of the heart. The sound waves are sent through a transducer that picks up echoes of the sound waves as they bounce off the different parts of the heart. It creates a picture of the heart that is much more detailed than an X-ray image and involves no radiation exposure. An echocardiogram allows cardiologists to evaluate the significance of heart murmurs, check the pumping function of the heart, and evaluate valve function.
Vascular Imaging
Dr Jacowitz uses vascular imaging and other diagnostic testing to detect and monitor heart disease.
Vascular Imaging allows diagnosis and severity of vascular disorders. At Old Hook Medical we use painless and non-invasive testing including ankle brachial index (ABI) and Doppler colorflow ultrasound technology. The ultrasound provides images of the carotid arteries on both sides of your neck and measures the velocity of the blood flow through these vessels, while the ABI allows us to compare the blood pressure in your ankle against that in your arm.
