Carol Glaubiger is a Board Certified Internist who has been practicing internal medicine in Bergen County for 17 years. While practicing medicine, Dr. Glaubiger encountered numerous patients with painful or chronic conditions that did not readily respond to her therapy or that obtained from specialists. Having heard of acupuncture from patients who spoke favorably about their experiences she gained an interest in the topic. This led her to enroll in the Medical/Dental Acupuncture course at New York Medical College where she received her medical certificate to practice medical acupuncture in New Jersey in 2000.
Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points shown to be effective in the treatment of specific health problems. These points have been mapped by the Chinese over a period of 2,000 years. According to traditional Chinese medicine, channels of energy (chi) run in regular patterns throughout the body and over its surface. An imbalance in the flow of the energy results in pain and disease. The application of acupuncture can correct this imbalance.
Acupuncture originated in China more than 2,000 years ago making it one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures in the world. During the procedure, the practitioner inserts hair-thin, solid, metallic needles into points of the patient’s body. Most people most feel little to no pain when the needles are inserted, and feel energized or relaxed after the treatment.
